ยง383.133 Testing methods.
Question 1:
May States administer the CDL knowledge and endorsement test in foreign languages or in other than a written format?
Guidance: Yes.
Question 2:
Do the Federal standards limit the number of times a driver may take a test if he or she fails?
Guidance: The rule does not limit the number of times a driver may take a test.
Question 3:
Is a State allowed to provide for an alternative test (e.g., oral) or administer an alternate exam format providing the test meets FHWA requirements?
Guidance: Yes. The knowledge portion of the test may be administered in written form, verbally, in automated formats, or otherwise at the discretion of the State.
