Our Mission
The mission of FMCSA's Office of Analysis, Research and Technology is to reduce the number and severity of commercial motor vehicle(CMV) crashes and enhance the efficiency of CMV operation by:
  • Conducting systematic studies directed toward fuller scientific discovery, knowledge, or understanding
  • Adopting, testing, and deploying innovative roadside practices and technology
  • Analyzing trends, costs, fatalities and injuries in large truck and bus crashes; monitoring data quality; and preparing economic and environmental analyses for FMCSA's rulemakings
